Coil Heat Exchanger
Product Description

Coil Type Heat Exchanger is indirect-contact heat transfer equipment in which one process fluid flows through a helically coiled tube while the secondary fluid flows on the shell side or is contained within a tank. Heat transfer occurs through the tube wall by combined mechanisms of convection and conduction, without intermixing of fluids.

Design and Construction
  • Heat Transfer Coil : Fabricated from seamless tubes (SS 304/316, copper, Cu-Ni, titanium, or alloy steel) formed into helical or spiral geometry to maximize effective heat transfer area within a compact volume.
  • Shell / Vessel : Cylindrical or rectangular enclosure designed to ASME or equivalent pressure vessel codes when required
  • Tube Arrangement : Single or multi-layer helical coils with defined pitch and coil diameter to optimize turbulence and minimize fouling
  • Connections : Flanged or threaded inlet/outlet nozzles with provisions for venting and draining
  • Supports : Coil spacers and saddle supports to withstand thermal expansion and flow-induced vibration
Heat Transfer Performance
  • High overall heat transfer coefficient due to increased turbulence
  • Improved thermal effectiveness compared to straight tube configurations
  • Suitable for counter-current, co-current, or mixed flow arrangements
Advantages
  • Compact design with high surface-area-to-volume ratio
  • High mechanical strength and thermal efficiency
  • Effective for viscous fluids and phase change applications
  • Reduced fouling due to enhanced shear stress
Typical Applications :
  • Chemical reactors and plug flow reactors
  • Heat recovery systems.
  • Process fluid heating/cooling in water treatment plants
  • Condensers and evaporators
  • Pharmaceutical and food processing industries
